Frances is a full-service building contractor specializing in residential remodeling and ADUs.

My name is Sara Cogan. I grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii, and have lived in Portland since 2003. My first passion and career was food. I spent a decade growing organic produce at Zenger Farm, an educational urban farm in the Foster-Powell neighborhood of Portland. In 2016, I transitioned from farming to building and remodeling houses. I guess you could say, I’m into the basics. Food. Shelter.

I have spent the last seven years training in the field with local builders, and managing projects for homeowners, acquiring the varied skillset necessary to build great spaces. From my years farming, I also bring transferable skills such as process organization, effective communication, and tenacity in all weather.

Frances Letts was my grandmother. She was strong and capable. Practical and efficient. I wanted to build a company that celebrated these attributes. At Frances, we take pride in bringing the right people together to collaborate and create. We are focused on well-built and built-to last. We are focused on the details.
