ADUs
An ADU, or Accessory Dwelling Unit, is a smaller, independent residential dwelling located on the same lot as a single-family home. An Internal ADU is a converted portion of the existing home, often in a basement or attached garage. A detached ADU is a stand-alone structure.
Benefits of ADUs:
Building ADUs adds to the available housing inventory in Portland.
ADUs can allow for multi-generational or communal living.
ADU’s can provide income by renting the ADU or the main residence.
